HEREFORDSHIRE Council is in the early stages of developing a new Local Transport Plan for the county.

The plan will set out what, where and how the authority intends to invest in transport in the county with the aim of boosting the economy, preserving our environment, and fostering social inclusion. The plan will cover the period from 2024 to 2041.

From now until May 21, residents are being invited to share their views for improving transport in the county. The feedback received will help to shape the detail of the plan before we undertake wider public consultation later in the year.

The new plans comes at an opportune time for the council to support wider ambitions. The authority is looking to tackle existing and future transport challenges.

In particular, the scheme is closely linked to the council's emerging local plan and deciding on what investment in transport is required when planning for new housing development and land use.

The location and design of these will have an impact on travel patterns and the new infrastructure needed to support them.

The new Local Transport Plan will cover the whole of Herefordshire, but aims to recognising the different characteristics of Hereford, the five market towns including Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding rural communities.
